April 2007. Some ten percent of the expected new investments in Eastern Europe will enter Bulgaria, because the

country continues to attract foreign investors, the Oesterreichische Kontrollbank Aktiengesellschaft (OeKB) stated in a

report.
Regional tourism is exploding. Tourism has been growing steadily year on year as there is further investment into

the area. In 2005 tourist figures were between 450,000 � 500,000 per annum. In 2007 this is expected to rise to 600,000 �

700,000 according to the Deputy Mayor, Mr Ivailo Rakov. More interestingly, nearly 15 per cent of the expected visitors are

due in non-winter months.
Property prices. Bansko has seen a steady increase in property prices over the last 3 years,

yet prices compared to established European resorts remain significantly lower in some cases over 5 times cheaper. Continued

investment into facilities and increasing tourist levels suggest that prices will continue to grow and catch up with more

mature western ski areas.
New Golf Course. Over �30m will be invested in the new golf course to promote an already growing

Bansko`s Facilities Rival Any Western European Resort. Over the next year Bansko municipality will invest

over BGN 10m in the infrastructure of the town to compliment the significant recent investment in state of the art ski lift

equipment and expansion of the resort to 65km of ski runs. A second gondola station is planned to increase lift capacity up

to slopes in line with expected current tourist growth.
Bansko, once mainly a stockbreeding and travelling merchant

community, has nowadays become a centre of winter and summer tourism. The mountain peaks near the town, the numerous lakes
