700,000 according to the Deputy Mayor, Mr Ivailo Rakov. More interestingly, nearly 15 per cent of the expected visitors are
due in non-winter months.
Property prices. Bansko has seen a steady increase in property prices over the last 3 years,
yet prices compared to established European resorts remain significantly lower in some cases over 5 times cheaper. Continued
investment into facilities and increasing tourist levels suggest that prices will continue to grow and catch up with more
mature western ski areas.
New Golf Course. Over €30m will be invested in the new golf course to promote an already growing
summer tourist market. The 18 hole, par 72 Ian Woosnam course will be ready in 2008 complete with many
facilities.
Bansko`s Facilities Rival Any Western European Resort. Over the next year Bansko municipality will invest
over BGN 10m in the infrastructure of the town to compliment the significant recent investment in state of the art ski lift
equipment and expansion of the resort to 65km of ski runs. A second gondola station is planned to increase lift capacity up
to slopes in line with expected current tourist growth.
Bansko, once mainly a stockbreeding and travelling merchant
